Good Reads on Goodreads
I’ve been in a reading slump for 4 months *cue tiny violin. And listen, I can only blame myself. I attempted two different celebrity debuts (one poetry and one self-help) when I’m usually a mystery/thriller, horror or romance reader (my red flag…?). The change of pace totally threw me off! So to inspire myself to get my nose back into a book, I wanted to compile a list of some of my favorites from the last year based on my Goodreads reviews:
5/5 The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward
5/5 Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
5/5 Falling Back in Love with Being Human: Letters to Lost Souls by Kai Cheng Thom
*Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton
*Paris: the Memoir by Paris Hilton
4/5 We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
*The Woman in Me by Britney Spears
5/5 The Only One Left by Riley Sager
5/5 The Antique Hunter’s Guide to Murder by C.L. Miller
4/5 The Painter’s Daughters by Emily Howes
*Side note, I prefer to listen to memoirs by audiobook rather than read it, especially if the author is narrating! I also don’t like to rate memoirs, as it is someone’s personal story, so I typically give these 5s as long as I liked the author and felt more connected to them by the end!
